St. Mary Medical Center
St. Mary Medical Center was founded by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in 1923. Since then, it has grown to a 389-bed acute care nonprofit hospital, offering a full range of health and wellness services to the greater Long Beach area. As part of Dignity Health, the fifth largest health care system in the nation and the largest hospital provider in California, St. Mary is committed to building healthy communities by offering accessible, affordable care.
St. Mary is one of less than 450 U.S. hospitals and birthing centers designated as Baby-Friendly.® Becoming Baby-Friendly is a comprehensive, detailed journey toward excellence in providing evidence-based maternity care, with the goal of achieving optimal infant feeding outcomes and mother/baby bonding.
St. Mary is also one of only 418 healthcare providers nationwide to earn the coveted “Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” designation and the only facility in the greater Long Beach area.
